When I was in first grade, my favorite teacher would start each day by calling out a number. We would all have to stand up and shout out what that number was. It was always so exciting to see what number she would choose next.
I loved participating in this daily activity and it always got me excited for learning. I would look forward to hearing the number of the day and trying to figure out what it meant. I even started doing some extra math at home so that I could be the first to answer when the number was called out in class.
This daily routine was such a joy for me and I still remember it fondly. It’s one of the things that made me love learning and excited to go to school each day.
